Preface
Looking at the numbers of in and outbound trainees in 2018, you will notice an overall increase in comparison to 2017. This growth in numbers enabled us to hire new staff in 2018. Looking back, we have no idea how we managed the workload without our new colleagues Gertruud and Tanya!
In 2018 a lot of time and effort was put into getting SUSP GDPR proof. A huge assignment which was mainly pulled-off by Cindy.
Because of the increase in numbers, the GDPR work, the administrative work for the Grow Abroad Alliance and the NIK project, we unfortunately, or better said obviously, did not have sufficient time to get the new online application system in place in 2018. Large steps are made for this though, so we have good hope to get it online in 2019.
We experienced only a few issues with the inbound trainees. Most of these could be solved, but unfortunately we had to send one trainee home. We are convinced that the fact that we see all trainees in person at the introductory meetings contributes to this fact. Also the outbound trainees performed well in their countries of destination. One trainee was very unhappy and this was solved by placing him with another host.
I thank all our trainees, partners, host families, staff and volunteers for the ongoing support to SUSP.
